The Ego is the beautiful part of your being that may propel you forward or hold you back. The choice will always be yours as to how the Ego is used in your life.

Sometimes we often react in a manner that may not always be best in terms of forward development, however at times we may not always realise it is the Ego which is holding us back.
It is easier said than done to not operate from a standpoint of the Ego, especially if we are not feeling balanced in all areas of life.
The purpose of the Ego is to protect us, and if we are feeling threatened in any manner we can react in a manner which is based more on fear as opposed to anything else.
The fight or flight of the ego can become a enemy of life, when the Ego is not used correctly.
The Ego operates from a standpoint of “I” and “me” it seeks to separate itself from others.
It therefore looks at things that it feels it is not good or insecure with and places emphasis on these areas for example: •I am not good at maths • I am not going to win
• I am better than everyone
• I am stronger than everyone

Part of understanding your own Ego, is being aware of how this may be triggered by others. There will always be someone that is able to set off your Ego, and in some cases this may not necessarily be in the most positive aspect.
This may come from people close to you, or even a stranger as you go about your day.
However once you’re able to identify the situations which occur in life that trigger your Ego, it becomes easier for you to identify how you are able to overcome these triggers.
A trigger is usually something that you do not anticipate happening. For example someone saying something that makes you feel small or insecure.
Many of the triggers that you face, may be down to an unresolved past issue. These issues can often lead you to feeling the need to protect yourself even though you are no longer in the same position which you were when the issue first arose.

Fear is one of the strongest feelings that the Ego thrives on. Overthinking is one of the specialities of the Ego, it will have you question over and over again something that there is no need to be questioned, or no logical answer.
The Ego loves to find an answer, just so that it may prove that it is right. More often than not, the answer which the Ego is seeking is one that is of a challenging/negative nature.
Egos love to feel as though they are winning, therefore if there is a threat of them losing, they can become argumentative and aggressive in nature.
You may also find that the Ego is adept to performing actions and saying words which may be of a harmful nature to others. Mostly these are regretted at a later date, but at the time it feels justified.
Overtime and as we begin to identify that some of the actions or reactions that we have a linked to the Ego, is starting point of us realising that the Ego can be damaging to the progress which we make in life. Both with ourselves and others.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are times that you will need to use the Ego to get the best results, so I am not stating that the Ego should not be used ever. Just in a manner that is suitable given the situation it is being used within.
Sometimes we will come across those who have big Egos. You know the ones that are never wrong, they always have to be right.
In these cases it would be wise to identify that those who operate from their egos at this level, may cause your Ego to be triggered. Limit your time with them if needed until you are able to proceed.
Now it is also equally important to work with the Ego of others, this helps with the growth of your own Ego. being able to read when another is operating from their Ego is a gift.
A gift that will help you to understand others at a deeper level. By taking the time and reflecting on how another may be acting, you are growing in your ability to truly see others for who they are. While seeing yourself more clearly too.

This may not always be an easy task, however it is essential if you are serious about wanting to understand your own Ego at a deeper level.
You cannot seek to understand another before you have taken the time to fully understand yourself. It is by understanding yourself which enables you to see others for who they are.
We often end relationships, not because it is the other person, but because they are demonstrating aspects of ourselves that we are not willing to look at.
To help balance our relationships, we could learn to work together, to help calm one another, as opposed to the my ego vs your ego battle.
One of the most compelling things you could do in this lifetime is openly and honestly look at yourself. Looking at yourself is as good as looking at another.

Seeing within yourself something that you do not like within another, is usually something that the Ego does not like to do. The Ego believes that it is right, so why would it want to question its actions and behaviours?
I for one was definitely afraid to look at myself in the past, as in the past I did not like what I saw, and therefore that was almost as good as me attacking my own Ego.
However this part of the process was the “Ego Death” that I was afraid of losing. In the end losing my Ego was probably the best thing I could have done in this lifetime.
Accepting the Ego for what it is designed for, and then learning how to control it, will help you to become a master of your own life.
A master who is able to incorporate the many different Egos which you will come across in this lifetime. The Ego will not understand that it is freeing to live from a place of calm and inner peace.

The Ego wants you to feel Fear more than you feel Love. Fear is what keeps you in a place of being stuck, unable to see the way forward as the energy is so stagnant it knows no other way.
Allow life the flow that it needs to move forward. Understand that the Ego will present itself every now and then so that it is able to see if it still has control over you.
The Ego lives in the past, it feeds off past energies that do not feel good. This is for you to move your mind out of the way. To forget everything that has happened in the past and take every day as it comes.
Living in the moment of Now is not something that the Ego likes to do, it likes to make you believe that you do not deserve more than what you are currently doing or being.
Release that big voice that is trying to convince you that you are not good enough. Listen to the small voice (your soul) that is encouraging you to take the steps needed to move forward.
The less you allow the Ego to control you the more room you will have for the Soul to take over and guide you to places that you would never have imagined going.
The Ego is not something we should hope to dismantle overnight. As with all good things that we experience within life it will take time and patience.
Find joy in the moments of everyday, receive your messages from the universe and understand how great your life really is. Your life is a joyful and loving adventure.
