“Our greatest problems in life come not so much from the situation we confront as from our doubts about our ability to handle them”
-Susan Taylor What is fear? There is no one who can explain what fear may feel like to you as an individual, as fear affects everyone at a different level. Some may feel fear on the higher vibration of palpitations and apprehension, while others will feel it at the lower end as a feeling of being uneasy. (Hawkins, 2013) Fear can affect the quality of life that you live, often because people are afraid to take the step across the line to see what is on the other side.... The unknown is often wrapped in fear, fear of failure is usually the biggest misconception that others have at the forefront of their mind when embarking on a new journey. However what if this new journey could open doors that were previously closed? Taking that step to overcome your fear can at times be a difficult one, but only by taking the step will you truly know if what you may have feared is as big as your mind has led you to believe.

How does fear affect your life? Fear is one of the biggest dominators that anyone person can experience, and when living with fear it is usually this that holds you back from achieving all you were sent here to achieve. You see fear is an energy, a strong one at that, and if you allow it to overtake you, you may find that later in life you end up with regrets. While fear affects us more so in our younger years, those who have not been able to manage the feelings of fear effectively may find that it can creep into our more mature years also... Fear is something that the Ego is able to live off, the Ego loves the feeling that it is in control, and will usually attach itself to the lower energies which you are feeling at the time. (Hawkins, 2011). In my experience the greater the fear, the more push it allowed me to overcome the feeling, and on most occasions I have ended up in a better place for it, (good or bad) as it allowed me the space not only to grow as an individual, but to see how capable I was of achieving the impossible.

Taking hold of fear and doing it anyway.... Being able to take hold of fear and do it anyway is one that will help to elevate some of the fear. Only by walking a path that is unknown will you truly understand the impact fear may have over you... also by walking unknown paths means that there is nothing to compare it too, you may have the feelings that you have been here before with this situation, but even if a situation bears a slight resemblance to something that you have experienced before, it is by no means the same, and the outcome (good or bad) will always be a different one with a different learning experience at the end of it... Small steps to changing a mind set of fear... 1. What will be the positives of taking this first step towards that which you fear? 2. Is this life threatening? 3. What will be the benefits of walking the unknown path? 4. What will be the repercussions if you step on to this new path? (If any) 5. Is what you fear bigger than what you are trying to achieve? These steps can be completed in any order, and the list is non- exhaustive as there may be other ways that your able to deal with fear as an individuals. What is important, that you have an understanding that in order to deal with fear effectively there will be steps which need to be taken....

The fear of change.... Many of us will stay in what we call our “comfort zone” a zone which in many ways does not allow any room for growth, or for us to truly utilise what we have learnt while in this “comfort zone”. Change as fearful as this maybe, is what is required sometimes to help us experience life to the full, some changes will be made of our own accord while others we will be forced into, as we may have never moved had this force not been enforced! I am a true believer of everything happening for a reason (good or bad), as it is only through change that I am truly able to grow. Change can be the stepping stone for individuals to learn how to deal with fear effectively, and make decisions which benefit them on a whole.... always try to look for the positive in a change that you were not expecting, and this may lead to fear not play such a major role when the change occurs....

Giving yourself time...
Time is one of the things that you need to take into account when dealing with the feelings that fear may bring to you. Being able to identify what it is your feeling (as aforementioned) and how you may be able to overcome these feelings are part of the first steps needed to ensure that feelings of fear are reduced and hopefully eliminated in the future. Depending on your idea of what time means to you personally will determine how long it will take for you to deal with the feelings that fear may bring to you. There is no need to rush when entering a new path, take the time to see the beauty that surrounds the new path and with this you will notice fear begins to fade away..... Moral of the story.... “Moving away the clouds does not cause the sun to shine but merely reveals that which is hidden” - David Hawkins We all have clouds in our lives which we may hide behind due to fear, it is only when we have the courage to move the clouds away that we are able to see that maybe our fears are not as big as they may have first seemed....
